THE DARES Though barely 18 years old, The Dares have been playing together for eight years and written over 100 songs. Formed in 1998 by twin brothers Ben Peterson (guitar and lead vocals) and Matt Peterson (drums and vocals), the band moved to California in December of 2003 where school buddy Martin Lascano joined on bass guitar and vocals.
Their energy, showmanship, and great songs have garnered The Dares numerous mentions in newspapers and magazines, and most recently, they played the iTunes showcase at music conference SXSW 2008. Not bad for a trio of seniors from Whittier High School.
Now signed to Jive Records, The Dares are currently writing and recording new songs for their debut full length album.
The first single "Love Me When I Leave" is due out soon - get ready!

Ry in Indonesia to support Quiksilver's Katiet Project
Humanitarian aid organization SurfAid International has opened the premier stage of the Quiksilver SurfAid Community Health Training Center at Katiet, in the Mentawai Islands, off Indonesia's West Sumatran coast.
Ry (pictured right with Mentawai children) traveled to Indonesia with Quiksilver in December to help build sustainable shelters, plant much-needed vegetables, and raise awareness.
He has also documented his experiences in some new songs, to be released soon.
In the worst Mentawai villages, up to 50% of children will die from causes including acute respiratory infection, diarrhea, unclean birthing situations and malaria. In addition, SurfAid research shows that up to 40% of Mentawai children are malnourished and 60% of mothers and children are anemic. The center aims to help correct this situation.
SurfAid Founder and CEO, Dr. Dave Jenkins, said the opening of the center was the culmination of a long and successful partnership with Quiksilver.

Backstreet's Back
Just when you thought the boy band fire had died down a bit, the BACKSTREET BOYS and writer JESS CATES have returned to fan the flames:
We are happy to announce that Backstreet Boys will release Jess' song "Inconsolable" as the first single off their upcoming album!
The boys are inconsolable
And the fans are as loyal as ever. "Inconsolable" debuted on Z100 FM to rave reviews from new listeners and older ones who, despite being out of junior high these days, can't get enough of the boys. Requests flooded the station, and the response to the song was overwhelming. Check out not one but 78 photos of the band's on-air interview.
Due late October, the new album is a return to the vocal harmonies and classic pop structure that fans of the genre seem to love best. "Inconsolable" is more uptempo than last year's platinum ballad (and top iTunes download) "Incomplete" (also written by Jess), but just as affecting. Get ready for some choreographed dancing, because this one's gonna be big.
Listen to "Inconsolable" and countdown to its worldwide release on their official website.

Belgian fans have to been good to us this summer.

After eight weeks, the record is still in the Belgian Top Ten, hitting #7 this week, and it's getting pretty close to DOUBLE PLATINUM status.
Plus, if you visit her myspace page, you can add JESS CATES' "I Survived You" to your profile! (Right Bank UK song "Lil' Precious" is also featured).
Welcome to Australian singer-songwriter RY CUMING!
RBM is thrilled to announce a new addition to our publishing and management lineup: soulful guitarist RY CUMING.
New artist Ry with the LA team
After four years of traveling between the US and his native Byron Bay, Ry settled in Los Angeles just over a year ago and has been a staple of the local music scene ever since.
His insightful songs are both laid back and infectious - just listen to "Meaning Of It All" and try to get it out of your head. Or any of his songs. Seriously.

BILLBOARD SPOTLIGHT
Change in the Clubs: KIMBERLEY LOCKE AT #1
A change has come over the dance charts, literally.
The second single off KIMBERLEY LOCKE's album "Based On A True Story" is successfully traveling off the path usually beaten by American Idol alums: it shot to #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play (issue date: June 9, 2007).
Changing Idol history
Though "Change" peaked at #6 on the familiar Hot Adult Contemporary chart, a dance remix proved to be the real winner.
The JESS CATES-written song knocked Fergie's "Glamorous" out of the highest spot, and made Locke the only Idol to top a Billboard dance chart with an original song. (Interestingly, "Change" also went to #7 on the Brazilian Top 30 Dance Club chart.)
In synch news, "Change" was featured on a episode of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club, on which Locke was a contestant. Clearly, Screech's bitter comments had no effect on viewers: 2.7 million watched the June 17th season finale, the highest-rated in the show's history.
Incidentally, our JESS CATES has a knack for penning tunes that can be successfully remade into club versions. His NICK LACHEY song "What's Left Of Me" has a remix playing in gyms everywhere, and it's surprisingly motivating for a heartwrenching ballad about public divorce. Maybe that's another niche market to conquer...

Belgian sensation NATALIA is #1 for the third week in a row!
#1 for 3 weeks!
It's been a good few weeks for us internationally as Right Bank Music songs traveled the globe and found success with various incarnations.
NATALIA was first runner-up on Idool 2003, the Belgian version of Pop Idol, where she "lost" to Peter Everard, who got 50.7% of the votes.
But her new album "Everything And More" is hardly losing on the charts. It features three Right Bank Music songs, and is already certified PLATINUM in Belgium.
And as of June 15, 2007, Natalia has a record-breaking 10 different songs off the album charting on the Belgian Top 100!
Keep an eye out for the success of German band STANFOUR - their song "Lonely Life" was cowritten by JESS CATES and is featured on their upcoming album (Universal).

This week brought more great news as "Just To Feel That Way," the TAYLOR HICKS single co-written by JESS CATES, receives a stellar review in Billboard that praises the pop-rock song's potential as a country hit:
"Powerhouse vocal...Hicks may be a star after all." (Billboard, 2.03.07)
Is Taylor Hicks the latest "American Idol" to realize that the quickest path to fame and fortune is country, instead of the wall of steel presented by top 40? Seems that way, based on second Southern rock single "Just to Feel That Way." Granted, first single "Do I Make You Proud" was as formulaic as they come, in the typical mold of "AI" debuts. And on "Just to Feel That Way," he emits a powerhouse vocal that goes from coarse growl to cool-guy sensitivity; in fact, it is more convincing than most anything he sang on the show. This song could make the grade at country and with the proper promotional push, adult top 40. Hicks may be a star after all.
- Chuck Taylor
The album "Taylor Hicks" - now PLATINUM - is back up to #50 on The Billboard 200.

Another Nick-powered #1 album!
Not to be outdone, PLATINUM "Now That's What I Call Music 22," featuring our NICK LACHEY ballad "What's Left Of Me" is showing staying power at #86 on The Billboard 200. And if you remember, this stellar compilation also debuted at #1 a few weeks back...
Also doing well is another compilation - GOLD "Kidz Bop 10." The album of children singing popular songs - including JESS CATES' smash "What's Left of Me" - is #125 this week!
NICK LACHEY's solo release, "What's Left of Me" has been downloaded over 800,000 times worldwide! Looks like no iPod is complete without it.
Plus, the video is enjoying heavy rotation on both VH1 and MTV. Check it out here.

Right Bank Writers Perform at ASCAP's Quiet on the Set
Writers JESS CATES and DARRELL BROWN were asked to perform their songs acoustically at ASCAP's 15th annual "Quiet on the Set" event to honor successful songwriters.
Both JESS and DARRELL played to packed houses at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, where they played stripped-down versions of hits such as "Incomplete," a Backstreet Boys' single cowritten by JESS.
Pop-punk prodigies THE DARES have signed with major label Jive Records.
After capturing label attention with their amazing stage presence and great songs, The Dares were signed to Jive by TERESA LABARBERA-WHITES, VP A&R (Jessica Simpson, Destiny's Child).
Right Bank Music VP STEPHANE BOMBET comments, "We wanted to sign with a person that had the most passion and vision and decided to sign with Jive through TERESA. She is an amazing A&R executive who has a genuine love for both artists and music. We very much look forward to working with her."
THE DARES are a trio of 16 year olds now hailing from Whittier, CA who joined the Right Bank Music team for both management and publishing.
Look out for big things from these multi-talented teens!

The Art of Chase Featured in Italian Vogue and RBM office
Right Bank Music has a new location and now new walls thanks to Los Angeles-based grafitti artist CHASE (below).
Using spraypaint on aluminum panels in the office's main hallway and reception area, Chase created a colorful display featuring positive messages such as "you can't until you say you can." While not an RBM musical artist exactly, he still made enough of an impact for us to feature his work. The Art of Chase, ranging from other murals to clothing design, can be found on his website, and was featured in the October issue of Italian Vogue.
The team with our new art display
During his recent visit from Paris, Right Bank Music/13 Bis President LAURENT DREUX-LEBLANC (right) loved the new view.
VP Stephane Bombet w/ BJORN TESKE of SONY BMG Germany
During his recent visit to Berlin, VP STEPHANE BOMBET received a PLATINUM plaque for our work with TOBIAS REGNER, winner of POP IDOL Germany.
REGNER's success must be due to our own JESS CATES and his amazing single "I Still Burn".

Billboard Review Praises our Work with LeAnn Rimes Both Here and Abroad
A review of Leann Rimes' latest country single "Some People" in the Billboard 'Spotlights' section reported incredibly favorably on the beautiful ballad:
Crossing borders
LeAnn Rimes has been around for so long and crossed so many format borders that at times it's easy to take her stellar talent for granted. Country radio warmly embraced previous offering...and the momentum should maintain eight cylinders on 'Some People'. This is among her best work in a long while, and man, oh, man, that's saying something. Now if only there were a way to convince Curb to release her extraordinary new overseas-only pop album, "Whatever We Wanna".
(CT, Billboard Aug 12, 2006 issue).
Some People was cowritten with Right Bank's DARRELL BROWN. "Whatever We Wanna" features songs by both DARRELL and our own JESS CATES.
Currently, the album is only available in the UK, but you don't have to live in London to watch the gorgeous video for "Strong," the single written by JESS CATES - it's available on youtube.
